If you'd like to know more about the trust, its set up and the people behind it, this page should tell you all you need to know.
Possibly our favourite question to answer, but also one of the lesser asked, I'm afraid. However, if you would like to donate to the trust in order to help us with the work we do you can find out how right here.
The question of whether or not the Akita is a fighting dog has been rasied many times on the television news and within the national press. Occasionally it comes up in the forums on the site, so we thought it would be a good idea to put this article together.
Possibly one of the most popular questions we answer on a day to day basis, for a more detailed answer, take a look at this FAQ article.
If you're looking for a new home for your Akita and would like to advertise it here for sale, please read this article prior to getting in contact with us.
There is an adoption fee due payable upon the successful adoption of any of our listed dogs, find out here about the current fee's.
Evey day we receive numerous emails and phone calls asking the same question, "can you rehome my dog for me", the answer is dependent on numerous things that are explained here.
One of the things we like to do is advise people on how they can go about rehoming one of our dogs in need. But, to save you a phone call to find out, we've put the details right here for easier access when our phone lines aren't manned.
This is a very popular one for those people looking to get their first Akita and who would prefer to have a puppy than a rescue dog, whether that be due to want or the unsuitability of their circumstances to adopt a rescued Akita.
A sad but ever more asked question of us is whether we can help in the rehoming of a dog on death row. These dogs require immediate help generally as many are within days of being put to sleep before the holding kennels contact us.
Another popular question, and very dependent on each dog. Like most other dogs there will be those Akitas that can and those that can't.
We often get asked if two male Akitas can actually live together in harmony, have a read of this article for our opinions as this is a question we get asked a lot, typically by people that already have a male and are looking to rescue another.
Some of our Akitas currently looking for new homes.
JAWT 506 - Zara
Meet Zara!! She`s a lovley girl of almost 2 years old and based in Brighton.
She has not lived with another dog so best placed in a dog free home, although she is good with cats!!! Dog savvy older children please as Zara`s owner has said she can sometimes be nervous with people she does not know. Our assessor found her to be a happy friendly girl, taking treats gently, looking for a fuss and adopting the typical "akita lean".
She is seeking a new home due to a change in her owners circumstances. Zara would be best placed in a new home able to keep her training up, she pulls when being walked but this can be corrected.
For more information on her, please get in touch!
JAWT 521 - Keera
Keera is a lovely girl of around 5 years old currently boarded in kennels in the Newcastle upon Tyne area.
She has not lived with other dogs or children although has found a male akita friend in the kennels who makes her smile and wag her tail. She had been with her owner all of her life sadly no longer wanted due to the arrival of a baby.
Keera was always fine with strangers coming into her house and she travels well also.
She can be a little apprehensive when first meeting people but is a very friendly girl soon after.
If you would like more information on Keera, please get in touch!
JAWT 592 - Sasha
Wow! This GORGEOUS girl is around 3 years old and saved from being put to sleep in a pound in Ireland. She is safe and based in foster care in Oswestry.
She has been a loving affectionate girl to all who have met her from when she was in the pound, moved to boarding kennels, transported over till here in foster. She loves to play but she adores a real good fuss.
She is proving to be good around other dogs, untried with cats and no young children due to lack of history! More information will follow as she settles in her foster home but she does need a home of her own. Potentially with a male companion too.
JAWT 593 Kumo

Kumo is currently in foster care is Oswestry and will under go assessment, first impressions suggest he is a quiet laid back boy and is good with other dogs.
see the forum for regular updates on how this boy settles or contact a member of the team
JAWT 546 - Sumo
Introducing Sumo! This boy is only 8 years young and liiving in the Notts area.
He is not very good with most dogs and not good with cats at all so could not live with any. He has however grown up with a child of 8 years old.
He is a fuss monster, adopting the typical akita "lean" for fuss. Our assessor found him to be gentle when taking treats and knows all the basic commands. A happy boy who enjoys company and a play with a plastic toy.
