Another popular question, and very dependent on each dog. Like most other dogs there will be those Akitas that can and those that can't.
Typically if an Akita is introduced to cats at a young age then they will grow to ignore them and there will be no problems, this is however not always the case and some will, like other dogs, simply feel that if it's smaller than them and furry it's fair game!
When we are rehoming a dog we ask the existing owners if the dog is used to living with cats, if they are we will mention it within the dogs information. However the fact that a dog is used to one cat is not always an indication that it will live together with another in much the same way that 2 dogs won't always get on!

JAWT 595 - Mia & Kia
Another dynamic duo! Meet Mia & Kia, mum and daughter based in Somerset. Mia is 7 and Kia is 4.
They are looking for a new home through no fault of their own, purely down to the hours they are being left alone at home for.
They are good with people, Mia can be a little timid around children untill she knows them but will soon settle. They have not been socialised with other dogs and not tested with cats so best being the only furkids in the household. They do need to go together as they pine for each other when apart.
Please see the forum for more photos of them.
Do you have a Mia & Kia shaped whole in your life waiting to be filled? Get in touch for more information if so!
Suki is a mild mannered lady of 7 years old who is currently based in Sheffield. She is seeking a new forever home due to the impending immigration plans for her current owners.
Although she has lived with other dogs, we feel she needs to be the only dog in the household. She is used to children of varying ages also. Suki likes a fuss and is very gentle when taking treats etc.
Could you offer a forever home to this girl? Please get in touch if you can.
JAWT521 - Keera
Keera is a lovely girl of around 5 years old currently boarded in kennels in the Newcastle upon Tyne area.
She has not lived with other dogs or children although has found a male akita friend in the kennels who makes her smile and wag her tail. She had been with her owner all of her life sadly no longer wanted due to the arrival of a baby.
Keera was always fine with strangers coming into her house and she travels well also.
She can be a little apprehensive when first meeting people but is a very friendly girl soon after.
If you would like more information on Keera, please get in touch!
JAWT 636 - Lady
Lady is a beautiful akita of 9 years young. She was about to be killed in the pound where her owners handed her in as "she got too old" but was saved with literally minutes to go! She is based in Kilkenny in Ireland.
