We often get asked if two male Akitas can actually live together in harmony, have a read of this article for our opinions as this is a question we get asked a lot, typically by people that already have a male and are looking to rescue another.
Whilst it is possible to have 2 male Akitas living together we would typically advise that if you have a male already, you look to rescue a bitch.
Male Akitas like to be the dominant force within the pets of a home, they always want to be the alpha dog. When you have 2 living together both will want to be the boss of the other and this is when problems can arise.
This is why we will typically look to have a male and female combination upon rehoming, there is less chance of there being any serious fall outs, although Akita bitches can and do hold their own ground and will often become the dominant force with the relationship.
As I said already though, 2 males can live together with no problems, this more often the case if you have a submissive male that will allow the other to be dominant.
If you already have a male Akita and would like to rescue another, please get in contact and we can discuss the options available to you.

JAWT 506 - Zara
Meet Zara!! She`s a lovley girl of almost 2 years old and based in Brighton.
She has not lived with another dog so best placed in a dog free home, although she is good with cats!!! Dog savvy older children please as Zara`s owner has said she can sometimes be nervous with people she does not know. Our assessor found her to be a happy friendly girl, taking treats gently, looking for a fuss and adopting the typical "akita lean".
She is seeking a new home due to a change in her owners circumstances. Zara would be best placed in a new home able to keep her training up, she pulls when being walked but this can be corrected.
For more information on her, please get in touch!

Lexi has a good level of training , and knows all the sit stay and down commands! she gives paw for treats and lots of kisses too!!
She is proving to be an absolute sweetheart to all that she meets and has been introduced to children of all ages, this girl is a sweetheart and deserves a proper family to call her own - if thats you please get in touch!

JAWT 562 - Snoop
Introducing Snoop!, He is 8 years young and based in London.
Seeking a new home through no fault of his own, he currently lives with children but would be best off being the only furry in the household.
He has a lovely nature and happy to have attention, loves going walks but sadly is not getting many right now. Described by our assessor as a big playful puppy, we would like to see this boy secure a home where he can get the walks and attention he is missing out on.
Just a lovely quiet boy with no issues.
Do you have the time to offer to Snoop? Please get in touch for more information.
JAWT 635 - Bruno
Bruno is a handsome fellow of only 2 years old. He was rescued from being put to sleep in a council pound and now under JAWT care after his owner returned overseas and left him in the garden.
He has a lively nature and is an affectionate boy. Bruno can live with another dog as has been socialised with some recently and has proven to be good. He is currently based in boarding kennels in Nantwich, Cheshire.
He has a decent level of training and appears to have been well looked after, we would love to find him a home where somebody would keep up his training and socialising.
Please get in touch if you would like more information.
