This is a very popular one for those people looking to get their first Akita and who would prefer to have a puppy than a rescue dog, whether that be due to want or the unsuitability of their circumstances to adopt a rescued Akita.
I'm afraid not - NO
Don't get us wrong, there are many very good breeders of Akitas in this country that we both know and respect - some are even members on this forum and some give up their own time and kennel space in order to help us rehome dogs.
But this is a dog rescue site, and our aim is to assist the dogs that need our help, not to promote the sale of puppies.
We appreciate that not everyone wishes to rehome a dog, and in many cases, people's situations don't allow for a rescue dog, so if you wish to find a breeder the best place we can suggest to look is the champdogs website where you will find many well known and respectable breeders - please avoid the free ads as this is not the place to find a well bred dog!
If you've found a breeder that is currently selling puppies, may we suggest that you google the name of the kennels or the breeder themselves. Any reputable breeder will be proud of their dogs and will have a website about themselves, their kennels and their dogs. Any one else that is selling puppies and does not hvae a site about themselves may be what we call a back street breeder with little or no knowledge of what their doing,!
If you're going to buy a puppy, make sure it's from a good source, a puppy for £300 advertised in the local paper is unlikely to be so!

Meet Raffa, he is 3 years old based in the Midlands area.
He can not live with other dogs or cats but is used to dog savvy children. Raffa had been previously adopted but has been let down through no fault of his own, he now desperately needs to secure his own forever home.
He loves a good fuss and is a playful boy too.

A very well behaved pair of dogs Roxy & Rudy have been in rescue for to long, they were rehomed recently but unfortunately when a new baby came along they were no longer wanted..
The most affectionate dogs you will meet, they adore each other but not to fussed on other dogs or small furries, they are used to children and really need a home of their own.. if you can help please get in touch
JAWT 636 - Lady
Lady is a beautiful akita of 9 years young. She was about to be killed in the pound where her owners handed her in as "she got too old" but was saved with literally minutes to go! She is based in Kilkenny in Ireland.
She is a friendly girl, enjoys being around people, but is very sad and confused. She is in with other females and getting along fine with them.
Could you open your heart and home to Lady and give her the forever home she rightly deserves. Please get in touch, we can arrange transport to UK.
JAWT521 - Keera
Keera is a lovely girl of around 5 years old currently boarded in kennels in the Newcastle upon Tyne area.
She has not lived with other dogs or children although has found a male akita friend in the kennels who makes her smile and wag her tail. She had been with her owner all of her life sadly no longer wanted due to the arrival of a baby.
Keera was always fine with strangers coming into her house and she travels well also.
She can be a little apprehensive when first meeting people but is a very friendly girl soon after.

JAWT 635 - Bruno
Bruno is a handsome fellow of only 2 years old. He was rescued from being put to sleep in a council pound and now under JAWT care after his owner returned overseas and left him in the garden.
He has a lively nature and is an affectionate boy. Bruno can live with another dog as has been socialised with some recently and has proven to be good. He is currently based in boarding kennels in Nantwich, Cheshire.
He has a decent level of training and appears to have been well looked after, we would love to find him a home where somebody would keep up his training and socialising.

JAWT 609 (a) - Brogan
Introducing Brogan! This beauty is 6 years old and based in Derbyshire. He is seeking a new home through no fault of his own.
Brogan currently lives with another akita (JAWT 609 b - Cara) and we would like them rehomed together ideally as they do not like to be apart. He will not be placed with young children or cats though.
He is a fun loving boy who is happy to be groomed and fussed. He`s strong on the lead so we do ask for experience of owning large breeds previously before thinking of adopting Brogan. Please get in touch if you think you can offer Brogan a home.
JAWT 622 Eddie
Eddie is an absolutely gorgeous boy we have been asked to assist in helping.
He is 6yrs old and been in kennels far to long..
Eddie is a total sweetheart, he has never lived with children that we are aware so would only be placed in a home with older dog savvy kids! He is very well socialised and loves to meet other dogs out and about, however we are looking for a home where Eddy will be the only dog..
