I recently bought a harness for Tyson as he was pulling so much. Thankfully he is easier to control on a walk but the other day he was on his back when I noticed a wet patch under his arm (armpit) I was puzzled as we hadn't been near any water. Then it occurred to me that it could be the harness chaffing his skin there. If that's the case, (I'm fairly sure it is), how do I treat it as he needs to wear the harness twice a day whilst out

It does sound as though the sore area is related to the harness. You probably need to leave it off for a while until the area heals - if it isn't infected, just salt water bathing or a litle sudocreme will help. Longer term, I would check that the harness is correctly fitted. Some people stitch on soft padding material onto the contact areas around the armpits.

Hi Andrew, thankfully it has cleared up nicely now.We think what happened was he lurched forward (an off-lead dog ran up to him)and caused a burn under his armpit.I have since stitched some soft fabric onto the harness and there have been no more problems
