I think you're brave watching it Liz! I dread to think how sensationalised it is....as if the truth of what goes on isn't bad enough

I watched the first bit of the programm and got upset. Couldn't watch the rest. Some things are difficult to take in context as you are seeing an edited section of a days worth of filming. I do not, however, condone any of the behaviour of the staff. No animal deserves any of the treatment I saw - no matter the reason.

I may try to watch more on the i-player but not too sure if I will get any further. xx

I watched it all.
I have to say - and this is MY opinion, not JAWT`s - that if I thought vet staff had handled my dogs the way they handled that setter or especially the sharpei I would probably being hunted right now for attacking them. There is absolutely no reason to cause that amount of distress to any animal.
As for the joking around with the sedated cat, I`m not a fan of cats but I could not have stood back and allowed somebody to do that.

Stupid little girls every bloody one of them and I hope they all meet a miserable end, along with the vet and the now promoted male nurse.

I`m being VERY polite here - Iain it`s for your benefit - but I swear it would be the last dog they were capable of touching had it been mine.

This is why I couldn't watch any more than I did.

It must be said that there are some very wonderful vetinary Practices out there but these idiots will harm the reputation of all practices in some way, as it will make more people suspicious of the care being given to their pets while with them.

I do, however, agree that many of the charges and treatments can be excessive. It seems that there is a habit of dishing out tablets and injections when a more simple and less distressing solution could have been found. I have a bit of a mistrust of vets after some of the experiences I have had in the past and will try to resolve some things if I feel capable of doing so, rather than facing someone who seems me and my pet as a cash cow!!

...I dread to think

Vets do annoy me the way they see patients as cash cows as Sam says, I rang Zeke's hospital yesterday to check if we can put him on Pro-kolin syringe, £13 a tube to clear up his persistent diarrhea this week.

What did I get told he needed?
-admittence to hospital to check his white blood cell count(FULL hematology check then!)and day care - at a fee.
-his poo sent off to check for infection
-antibiotics
-his temp checking (despite being fine in himself)

Err - NO! He was due at the vets today (who i actually trust) anyway for his weekly white blood cell count, and I picked up a tube of Pro-Kolin, the nurse told me she wouldn't do his temp up his bum because she could see I was happy that he is fine in himself - he hates it and the poor lads got the sh*ts for gods sake! If his diarrhea doesn't clear up then to take a sample in on Monday. Better .

You panic at first with something like Cancer but after a while I really can start to see some of the excessive extra treatments and tests they try on. Worse when they're insured. Now his insurance has ran out maybe they'll be more selective!

I watched it all, and i swear if i see any of their faces at any vets i attend, i will do something i dont generally do, it will be the vet tending to his staff. I think what annoyed me as well is the way Vetmedics pooh poohed all but one of the claims.

OMG- just reading your posts is making is me feel sick- not sure if i want to watch it on itunes or not now-

but Donna's right, it's the individual relationship between vet and bear and I have to say, while blake hates all vets- he hates Beth less than the rest.

Sharon O uses the same and I'm sure she would agree that she is good.

Only 2 and a half weeks until we go home to Blake!!!
