Hello and huge warm, furry welcome!

I am sure your ideal bear will find you when your ready, there is something wonderfully rewarding when you do adopt an akita. We've re-homed two bears through the JAWT, Jess, a wonderful ole dear who sadly passed away last July and Amber, litter sister to Grace, Keisha and Noah who I'm sure will be along soon.

Good luck!

Steph, Amber and Diego (our other 'kita!)

As a grown up I can tell you that as long as the dog you adopt is provided for both mentally and phyisically we DO NOT discriminate against working families, in fact most of us here dont have the luxury of not having to work and as a trust positively promoote working families as bills for health care insurance and food definately dont come cheap, "Most Akitas" enjoy their own company at times but also crave social interaction with humans, if your away for days at a time then obviously no pet is really suited but for the period you work an akita can be ideal...... dont tell my two but their actually really lazy dogs that love to sleep curle up by the door waiting for me to come home, your situaton is assesed ery fairly purely upon merit, flats, workers, single people etc....as long as you can prove to us you have the dogs best interests at heart and a long term provision for its care then you will have no problems here. ps im the grumpy one they talk about
Glad to be your southern shandy drinking co-ord, Any questions please Pm me or SamYoko

Grumpy one LOL

As for the first few words Rob - "as a grown up" I would dispute that statement

Nice to hear that working isn't an instant reason for rejection. We're definitely doing our homework finding out all we can about the breed, and the more I read the more I think an Akita would be a good fit for us. Thank you for the welcome, you're all really helpful

Yes I just noticed that! Lovely

Stick around here and ask away about any of the dogs, we have lots of susperstars on the rehoming page.

I'm reading through all the past threads and FAQs which are answering a lot of my questions, but I'm sure I'll have lots more to ask
