So, eight weeks on ... 2010/07/28 08:45 Karma: 9
Well, Yoshi has been here for eight weeks now and I thought I'd give you an update on how he's settled in.

Health - Yoshi's back legs seem to be getting stronger with exercise and his skin condition seems to be improving. His ear infection appears to have gone.

Training - He is well behaved around the house although he's obviously had no training. He doesn't sit or anything else on command but is inherently well behaved indoors. On the lead he isn't too bad but still has some good walking manners to learn. However, I've walked much, much worse dogs.

Character - He's a complete sweetheart and is more than happy to say hello to anyone. He's OK with most dogs too, although he definitely doesn't like cats. For those of you concerned about the gerbils, they are perfectly safe too!

Himself and Bertie really are bestest friends. It is incredible how well they've taken to each other. I thought that Sadie and Bertie were close, but not in the way Bertie and Yoshi are. They wrestle for ages, share bones and hide chews (but not Dentastix!) and sleep together all the time.

I've also noticed that if I'm telling Bertie off Yoshi will come over to me to distract me and "save" Bertie. They've also worked out a daily routine of who gets mummy time and when. I can guarantee that Yoshi will have his hugs with me in bed in the morning and Bertie on the sofa in the evening and they've decided this themselves.

One thing that I have to say though. Bertie is my dog, but Yoshi is Bertie's dog!

Liz that is so lovely to hear that Yoshi has settled so well, Bertie obviously had a big part in that I reckon LOL

Pleased that his legs are getting stronger too. Poor lad has been through far too much in his life but now has the loving care that he needed for him to flourish

It's funny how they 'arrange' their days isn't it? Ours have their own self thought up routines too.

I bet Bertie is pleased that he has his own dog now It's lovely for them to have such a strong bond, I love the way Yoshi 'protects' Bertie I would love to see them playing, a sight to behold I bet

Big hugs and keeta kisses to them both and well done you for taking Yoshi

This is why I love dogs so much, they do exactly what they say on the tin.

That is so good to hear, Liz.

Does that mean that you walk Bertie and then Bertie walks Yoshi!!??

Bertie learnt so much from Sadie Bear and he is now using that knowledge with Yoshi, just the way it should be. Both of them had such a bad start but now have nothing but good times ahead of them with your love and the love they have for each other.

Big hugs from me to all of you. xx
