On the 22nd of December the trust received a call from the Yorkshire Animal Ambulance service advising that they'd been made guardians for a 4 month old male Akita who had been signed over to a local vets.
He ended up with the YAA as when the vets contacted the local pound they were advised that due to the fact they were full any and all dogs being taken there were being PTS, being responsible vets and not wishing to see a perfectly healthy young boy PTS through no fault of his own they contacted the YAA.
Thanks to the contacts made between the trust and other rescue and welfare organisations, a phone call was received by our treasurer asking if the JAWT could help rehome him.
He was assessed and passed with flying colours showing all the traits of a well brought up and happy young puppy and being described by the assessor as completely adorable!
It doesn't typically take long to rehome a dog of this age, there are always many people looking to take on a puppy, but that actually makes our job that bit harder as we have to be extra careful to ensure that we find them the right home.
Thankfully, due to the applications we received earlier in the year when we had a litter of 5 puppies to rehome, we had a list of people that were already home checked and suitable to take this young boy on and one couple sprung straight to mind!
The couple in question had rehomed one of the previous litter and were looking for a play friend for her, add to that the fact that the couple were infact local area reps for the trust and decision was easy, we knew he'd have a great home and be brought up correctly.
And so it was on the 28t of December and with xmas behind us that a visit was made to meet Kobe with his new sister to see how they got along, as was expected all they wanted to do was play and so after many hours of walking and playing together they were put in the car and taken home.
If you'd like to keep up to date with Kobe's progress in his new home keep an eye on the forum where there are bound to be many pictures and tales posted of his progress and playtime with his new sister.
We'd like to thank the vet for seeking out an alternative to Kobe being PTS and to Suzanne from the Yorkshire Animal Ambulance for not only contacting us about him but also for taking him in and giving him a secure and loving home over the xmas period.

JAWT 506 - Zara
Meet Zara!! She`s a lovley girl of almost 2 years old and based in Brighton.
She has not lived with another dog so best placed in a dog free home, although she is good with cats!!! Dog savvy older children please as Zara`s owner has said she can sometimes be nervous with people she does not know. Our assessor found her to be a happy friendly girl, taking treats gently, looking for a fuss and adopting the typical "akita lean".
She is seeking a new home due to a change in her owners circumstances. Zara would be best placed in a new home able to keep her training up, she pulls when being walked but this can be corrected.
For more information on her, please get in touch!

JAWT 524 - Tess
This beautiful girl is around 4/5 years old and currently on foster in Portsmouth.
She is a sweet natured soul, loves human company and idolises our foster mummies little ones and walks so nicely on the lead with them.. under close supervision of course!
Tess is a lovely gentle girl and has an excellent level of training, she is also good with most dogs preferring bigger ones so could potentially live with a laid back male.
Though Tess loves it in her home now, she desperately deserves a home to call her own, could it be yours?
JAWT 552 - Koda
This boy is a big bundle of fun!
He is only a year old and based in Clitheroe, Lancs. He loves to be around people and is good with other dogs so would be an excellent playmate with a dog of similar age.
He loves his walks and having a play with his toys also. Would benefit from further training also but is receptive and eager to learn.
He has moved around a fair bit recently so we would really like this boy to find a home to allow him to settle into his surroundings.
please get in touch for more information
JAWT 515 - Treble
Treble is a young girl of two years old currently based in Stockon on Tees.
She needs to find a new home due to the fact she has decided she no longer wants to live with her litter sister or her mother. She could however be placed with a laid back male pending succesfull introductions. She cannot live with cats and is not used to young children either.
Treble can be nervous around strangers and as such we would advise a few visits to build her confidence and trust prior to adopting.
Her owners will be sad to see her go and only want what is best for her.
Could you offer Treble the love and trust she so desperately needs?
